Welcome message

Greetings all sentient ones! I'm Miss Nzinga Job, your host of what I call the Triple M podcast: Meaningful Musical Meanderings. In these podcasts we'll explore everything music from silence to the loudest fortissimo, from the piccolo to the timpani, from the bamboo flute to the diderjidoo, from composing from scratch to digital sample remixing, and all the while we will be learning musical skills - and the thinking skills - necessary for combining our learnings to enhance our music literacy and instrumental/vocal performance capabilities.  For this course you'll need as many music textbooks as you can afford. Why? You never know how YOU'LL understand something better, with a slight turn or change of phrase.

You'll also need a good working internet connection to access open educational resources, related web page readings and download the podcasts when you're out of internet range; you'll need enough memory on your phone to store them. You'll need to be prepared to discuss, and think and reflect about what we discuss from cast to cast; and you'll need your voice and/or your instrument to try things out as we go along. So singers, that means have your lukewarm water bottle handy! For songwriters, have your notebooks handy; composers, have your musescore notation software handy. Also, make sure you download the ANKI flashcard app and the Complete Ear Trainer App, in addition to Anytune, for your own personal training in music; we'll be touching on them from time to time during the course. On to those yummy music making milestones ahead!

Compositional devices as simple tools anyone can use to develop musical ideas into full-length songs or works of music 

Examples of composition devices e.g. repetition, augmentation, diminution, modulation, tonicization, variation of texture and timbre

 Well,  Generating ideas and content has never been difficult for me. But implementation - to create and upload the ideas I had for a podcast on composition, in this case - proved more than difficult. Here I am, not one but  two weeks later, only just saying what I learned from the activity. I will conquer this, though. Here goes: 1. It takes time to find the appropriate supporting content you want.  2. It takes time to edit the appropriate supporting content you want.  3. It takes time to listen to the combined content and feel comfortable with it going out to the world under your name. 4. If you don't give yourself time for these three above, and also to script the content over a period of time for reflection, then you won't be able to summarise quite as well and that makes your podcast longer than it ideally should be. 5. If you have a busy life, it makes sense to hire someone to source creative commons music and edit your podcast for you.
